Suna + Dewald | Family farm on the edge of the Kalahari.

SYML – Harvest Moon

From the very first correspondence with this beautiful bride, Suna, I could tell – she had a vision. Being an architect herself, everything she does, oozes taste.

She perfectly described her wedding as theme as “from the veld” – everything floral was picked and foraged from the farm and dried, to make up a beautiful, clean and raw colour palette. The venue was her family’s old English farm with 200 year-old buildings and a dam. All the guests were roomed in glamping tents by the dam and close family and friend bonds were evident, at the braai the night before. On the wedding day, I woke up to a party of magpie shrikes in the tree above my tent and I knew it was going to be a good day!

After getting ready in the beautiful “Manor House”, the bridal party trailed a long line of guests, who all walked down with white umbrellas to a small forest where the ceremony was held at the water’s edge. Despite many prayers against rain, the heavens eventually opened and everyone joined forces to keep the party area, dry – anything but the dancefloor! We got a small gap of dry weather after the shower to head out onto the farm to shoot some magic before the most beautiful sunset and night-sky, arrived. That set the scene for a night of celebrations and dancing! Thank you, Suna and Dewald, for the highest honour of being able to capture the essence of your beautiful love. I will remember it for ever!
